Hej från Sveriges läger- och utbildningsgrupp, eller lite enklare: SLUG! Vi är en grupp volontärer som engagerar oss för att utveckla kunskaper i interkulturellt lärande hos såväl utbytesstudenter som AFS-volontärer. Våra mål är att det ska vara både kul och enkelt att volontära på våra läger för utbytesstudenter och att även vi volontärer ska få möjligheter till lärande och kontinuerlig utveckling. Detta jobbar vi med genom att både skapa struktur och främja vår organisationskultur, att vara med i SLUG kan betyda allt från att stötta en lägerchef i sitt uppdrag, skapa och uppdatera utbildningsmaterial eller styra upp ett oförglömligt volontärläger med tillhörande DJ-battle.
Just nu letar vi efter fler som vill hjälpa oss med detta! Även om det är nyttigt med viss erfarenhet av AFS-läger är det inget krav att känna till allt som pågår runt dem. Vi lär oss tillsammans och värdesätter idéer och engagemang allra högst. SLUG består av tre mindre team med varsitt huvudområde: programlägerteamet, volontärteamet och samordnings- och utvecklingsteamet. Sweden’s camp and educational group, also known as SLUG, says hello! We are a group of volunteers who strive to expand the intercultural perspective of both exchange students and AFS-volunteers. Our main goals are to make it both fun and simple to volunteer at our camps for exchange students and to make sure that we, as volunteers, also get the opportunity to learn and develop ourselves. We work with both creating clear structures and fostering a positive culture within AFS Sweden, volunteering in SLUG can include anything from supporting the camp chief, creating and updating educational materials or arranging a volunteer weekend with a traditional AFS DJ-battle.
Right now we are looking for more volunteers to help us with these! Even though some experience of AFS-camps is useful, it is in no way a must to know everything about them. We learn together as a team and what we value the most are ideas and engagement. In SLUG there are three different teams with their own responsibilities: the program team, the volunteer team and the coordination and development team.
